Another time I was bad, but had lots of fun, was one summer night on my walk. It was very light although it was late. I decided to disappear into the woods. I could hear Auraengus calling on me but chose to ignore it. I wanted to play and I intended to return home before dark. It did not get dark until really late however and when I got back, Richard had gone to bed. The front door into the porch was open for me and that is where my bed was kept. I slept for a while in my bed and then it got light again so I sneaked out before Richard shut the door. It was great being free so early on a sunny morning. I ran to the forest to smell the scents and just have fun. Then I smelt and heard a pheasant. I came to a cage with lots of little pheasants in it. I was just running around looking at them when I felt something snap around my leg. It wasn’t sore but I couldn’t run. I had been trapped!
My back leg paw was caught in a contraption. I tried to bite it free but couldn’t so I lay down and waited to be rescued. I knew Richard would hunt for me and my plan was to bark when I heard him shout for me. After a while, I got bored. It wasn’t much fun being free but trapped. Also I was hungry I hadn’t had any breakfast.
Then hallelujah a man came. I recognised him as the gamekeeper I liked to bark at because he was friendly. He saw me in the trap because I stood wagging my tail and barking. He freed my leg so I could move then carried me to his truck and gave me a lift home. Richard was pleased I was back but I knew I had been bad so I got walked only on the lead after that for weeks! My adventure was exciting though.
